When Will I See You Again - Series 1

Mihai

I'm starting a series dedicated to friends I have not seen for awhile. And I am starting with, birthday boy Mihai Isacovici, formerly known as the "Urasa Desperado" and now the "Roponggi Ichiban Bachelor".

I first met him at SD2 and he was attempting to sing a tagalog song called "Harana". Harana is the Filipino act of courting a girl by singing songs. I once experienced firsthand how cheesy this experience could be when my university dorm neighbor was "harana" by a guy, he sang "You're so vulnerable" by Roxette. The girl refused to speak to him the entire freshman year. Well of course, Harana can also be a totally amorous experience, especially if it's Chris Cornell singing in your balcony. I'm digressing....

I have so many exquisite memories with Mihai. Korea! Walking in the cold streets of Gyeongju, ordering food in a traditional restaurant with an owner that speaks no word of English, dancing on Christmas day, and watching movies at a videoke a small cinema that can house four people and rents dvd; famous making-out place in Seoul)with Hong, Sunny and Jolly.

He was a good friend always ready to listen. On his birthday, I would like to say thank you for all the wonderful things he has done for me. For listening to me when I felt homesick in IUJ, walks in the Urasa fields and for taking me to the winery restaurant when i was confused, for urging me to go after the one I love in the train station in Ueno, for not judging me, for putting up with my menstral pains in the Tokyo airport, for conversations about circumcisition, for his views on life, for always complimenting me and somehow for knowing how to lift up my spirits when I'm down. I hope he finds happiness in life and he keeps dancing like a fool.

thanks for all those nick names G, I am sure to spread them around IUJers in Tokio. hmmm, Mihai is quite unique and to imagine there is another spitting image of him in this world...freaky!!! Cheers to the birthday boy again...but G be a little more sensitive, Mihai and Korea...it is a no-go area, trust me.

Dear Grace,

Thank you for this wonderful birthday gift!!!

You could remember all these moments...while reading it felt like taking a walk in the past, something i cannot afford that often since I do not have a good memory (see, already getting old...).

You are a very very special friend of mine. I miss you so much!
