Desperate Philippines

I finally saw the episode of Desperate Housewives which caused the outrage of millions of Filipinos. The character of Teri Hatcher was unable to accept the doctor's diagnosis of menopause so she suspected that he got his degree from the Philippines. True, this is a false generalization. There are brilliant doctors trained in the Philippines who are renown in their own fields. Then again, people make generalizations, biased comments and other politically incorrect statements everyday. I can be often guilty of this. It is boring to be politically correct and nice every time. I'm sure the writers realize that such comment has no merit of truth in general. And if they don't, then they have a problem. Unfortunately, not everyone can be well-informed about the whole world. We all make stupid remarks sometimes. Someone should tell it to our face when we say it so we will not do it again next time.
