The story of Tarantino riding the padyak (bicycle with a makeshift attachment of steel seats for passengers) is like a scene out of a movie, a Filipino movie that is. He was supposed to attend a ceremony where he will be awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award as a film maker. In true Manila fashion, it started to rain, he got stuck in traffic for hours until he was forced to take the padyak across Nagtahan bridge. His pants got wet so he was forced to wear his barong with a pair of sweat pants. He arrived late, got his award and made a speech recalling the Filipino movies he watched when he was a kid in the 70's. What a great sport, which is probably why we like him even though we know he keeps stealing from other brilliant directors.
